GoodStorm, Gift Cards Reward Procrastinators

Last minute gift shopping to do? Gift cards have increasingly been a choice for late shoppers, while the t-shirt purveyors at GoodStorm suggest giving a wearable, customizable present.

Sometimes a person deserves a gift that speaks to not only their interests, but the appreciation the giver has for the recipient. Granted, the recipient probably deserves something that was purchased with some forethought and planning, but real life conspires against us and our free time.

The t-shirt sellers at GoodStorm think a new, customized article of clothing would be a great choice. The giver can pick a design from one of GoodStorm's existing choices (we happen to like this one) or just let the recipient design a shirt through the browser.

Shirts can be tricked out with text and artwork either uploaded by the creator, or selected from an assortment of clip art in the shirt design application.

Gift cards offer another choice for holiday givers, and have been an increasingly popular option for people. Recipients tend to like them as well, since some givers have remarkably awful taste in picking out gifts.

Analysis firm Hitwise said the share of US Internet searches for 'gift cards' surged 109 percent for the week ending December 16, 2006 versus the previous week as online shoppers looked for last minute gift ideas. Gift cards from Visa, American Express, and iTunes were among the top choices of searchers.

Those iTunes cards should go well with lots of other searchers. The iPod was the leading product-related search term in the Hitwise Shopping & Classifieds category for the same period of time. Queries for Apple's iconic media player outnumbered ones for Microsoft's Zune by 14 to 1, as well as searches for SanDisk's new Sansa player 90 to 1.
