Google To Set Up Israeli R&D
Sergey Brin intimated to Israeli news source Haaretz that Google "is in the process of establishing an R&D center in Israel." Brin made the statement during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
An Israeli research and development center would add to Google R&D camps located in California, Washington, New York, Japan, Switzerland, India and China. Google already has established a local marketing and sales branch in Israel.
Brin also said that the company has been recruiting a pool of academics, engineers, economists, mathematicians, and statisticians to work on algorithms and ad systems in the Middle Eastern country.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt was in attendance with Brin at the World Economic Forum being courted by well-dressed businessmen every few feet, according to the BBC. The two Google executives were flanked by an all-star guest list that included Angelina Jolie, Bill Clinton, and Bill Gates.
