Dohop.com’s Airline Search In Flight
A new flight search engine out of Iceland searches over 650 airline databases as well as well known sites like Travelocity and Orbits to bring back a long list of available flight path options. Dohop.com also gives transfer times and several currency options.
Dohop has sponsored results, but makes it clear which ones they are. On the About page, they say sponsors do not influence the order of results.
A search for Lexington to Athens, Greece (ahhh, Greece) brought back 2 pages of results with flight times, paths, durations, prices, layover times, the cost of each transfer flight and a link to where the information was found. Though there are several flights listed, it would appear Delta is my only choice of getting from Kentucky to the land of Delphi.
The team at Dohop.com readily admit their current limitations, though, citing a number of airlines without price lookup, and that some flight combinations are possible but very impractical.
Nonetheless, ResearchBuzz.com's Tara Calishain says the engine works with "unsettling smoothness even in Opera."
"This is unsettling; I am not used to travel search engines being this intelligent," she says, "It's like walking into your office in the morning and discovering that your cat has borrowed your computer to type her thesis."
Well put, Tara.
