Adobe/Macromedia Clears Dept. Of Justice
Adobe announced on Thursday they got the nod from the U.S. Department of Justice for their acquisition of Macromedia. The deal's not completely done because they await approval from some European jurisdictions but the companies expect the deal to close sometime in the fall.
Back in April, Adobe announced the agreement to acquire Macromedia in an all-stock transaction. The price was 1.38 Adobe common shares per share of Macromedia stock.
Most would agree the merger is a strong synergistic relationship, as these two entities will compliment each other quite well. Macromedia is known products like Flash, Dreamweaver, Coldfusion, Fireworks and Freehand. Adobe is known most for creating the PDF format and Adobe makes great software like Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
