The XPS series will have a lot more going for it than the rest of the product line, like dedicated customer support.

Dell wants to make sure holiday shoppers have a place to spend a lot of money on high-end electronics this year. The company debuted a new group of XPS PCs, three desktop models and a 17-inch display notebook, they noted in a statement today.

The new XPS models will be targeted at the high-performance crowd, most notably gamers. Pricing for the desktops will start at $1,099 while the notebook begins at $2,699. Purchasers of those systems will have specialized agents working with them to provide sales assistance and technical support.

In October, instant messaging support via XPS Chat will be available to connect consumers with support agents who handle XPS issues. Dell claims it has "transformed its pre-sales, sales, online and services infrastructure." During the summer, Dell came under considerable criticism for shuttering its customer service forums, so perhaps the changes come in response to that criticism.

The company has added a couple of new widescreen televisions to their product like. A 32-inch flat panel LCD, and a 50-inch plasma screen set will have built-in high definition tuners. Those prices will be $1,799 for the 32-inch set, $3,799 for the plasma TV.
