Two new models of processors will find their way into the hands of gamers via laptops from custom shop VoodooPC.

Just in time for the Intel Developer Forum too. We're sure Paul Otellini will drop Hector Ruiz a thank-you note for announcing the latest in high-power chips for laptop gaming machines.

Thinner, lighter, faster: it's not the Olympic motto, but the performance and form factor of new laptops featuring the AMD Turion 64 processors. AMD has made two new ones available, according to a morning press release that just happened to arrive a day before Intel's event begins in San Francisco.

For AMD, the MT-40 and MT-37 represent another way to chip at Intel's leading Centrino mobile platform. While Intel has a wide lead over AMD in the processor market, some gaming PC makers and many gamers have embraced AMD's technology instead.

Luxury performance maker VoodooPC, a longtime AMD customer, will use the processor in the ENVY Middleweight and Featherweight models available from its site. "The match-up of our exclusive design capability and AMD's latest 64-bit mobile technology gives us an edge to deliver highly mobile gaming performance, quiet operation and ultimate style," said Rahul Sood, president and chief technology officer of VoodooPC.
