Farking Your Way To The Top
Give it up for the little guy. Kentucky-based Fark.com ranked 2nd on the list of Nielsen/NetRanking's fastest growing blog sites, just behind MSN Spaces. That's farking unbelievable.
While its still modest in terms of unique audience, Fark.com's audience grew by 63% between January and July 2005. MSN outpaced the entire blogging world with a growth of nearly 947%. But you might expect that from a new enterprise from a giant.
The results of the Nielson rankings are as follows:
1. MSN Spaces 947%
2. fark.com 63%
3. Blogger 45%
4. Xanga.com 43%
5. Daily Kos 37%
6. The Smoking Gun 31%
7. Gawker 29%
8. TypePad 28%
9. engadget 25%
10. Boing Boing 20%
The same survey highlighted how much time people spend on the various Internet destinations. While Google still rules the blogosphere in terms of unique blog audiences. Overall, the search king was unable to overcome the attention deficits of users.
AOL was the best at holding its audience, with an average time per person of 6 hours, 32 minutes. Yahoo! and Ebay also have a tendency to suck in their audience with 3 hours 13 minutes and 2 hours 4 minutes of user visits respectively. Google visitors tapped out at about 40 minutes.
