Stanford Alerts FBI On Computer Breach
There is no evidence of data stolen from the University's Career Development Center at this time.
The Stanford legal department mentions a May 11 incident involving the University's Career Development Center.
Records for the Center were improperly accessed from outside the campus network. Stanford has advised some 9,600 people who used the center from 1995 to the present about the breach.
Though the University does not know if information was copied, Stanford has notified all users who had Social Security numbers or credit card information stored as part of their profiles with the Center.
Agents out of the FBI's San Jose office have been investigating the incident. At this time, no suspects have been identified, nor have any criminal acts related to data maintained in the system been reported.
