Spymac Eyes Skype For VoIP
The huge community of Macintosh users will connect users of Apple's OS X via the free telephony network.
Mac users already used to an easily interfaced computing experience will have another feature offered to them at the end of August.
A partnership between Mac community site Spymac and Internet telephony provider Skype Technologies will give Spymac's users access to Skype services via Web Operating System v4.
"Spymac is thrilled to harness the power of Skype's free telephony by integrating it directly into our diverse community of Mac users," said Kevin April, Spymac CTO. "Our members are spread throughout more than 130 countries, and soon they will be able talk, instant message, transfer files, even hold conference calls free of charge.
Spymac has nearly one million members, while Skype claims almost 40 million members. Skype first released a version of its software compatible with OS X last summer.
"Skype is available on multiple, interoperable computer platforms and we're pleased Spymac will be helping Mac users connect around the globe with Skype," said Niklas Zennström, Skype's CEO and co- founder.
