US Dept. Of Defense Choose Symbol RFID
The Army Contracting Agency awards Symbol Technologies five Blanket Purchasing Agreements for RFID readers.
Retailing giant Wal-Mart uses RFID to manage its massive inventory. Now the Department of Defense will keep track of everything from tanks to toilet paper using the same radio-frequency ID chip technology.
The DoD is trying to improve efficiency and save taxpayer dollars, and the use of RFID should improve the tracking aspect of inventory management for the agency.
The awards were made to Symbol's strategic partners: CDO Technologies Inc., Cheval Rouge, RSI ID Technologies, SYS-TEC Corp., and WFI Government Services, Inc., and call for the use of Symbol's fixed, multi-protocol RFID reader.
"RFID will definitely improve how the DoD does business, and we believe Symbol Technologies offers the best RFID solution," stated E.J. Vincent, president, Cheval Rouge. "We are excited to be a part of the DoD team."
