AMD, HP To Help Lance Live Strong
A special edition of HP's L2000 notebook PC powered by the AMD Turion 64 platform will benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF).
The joint initiative between chipmaker AMD and computer manufacturer HP will make the high-performance, wireless enables laptop available in June online and in July at select retail outlets.
Included with each laptop will be yellow LIVESTRONG wristbands, purchased by HP, and packaged with yellow stereo earbuds. HP and AMD will also donate a number of notebooks for use in cancer survivorship centers funded by LAF across the country.
"More than 10 million Americans are currently living with, through and beyond cancer," said Mitch Stoller, President and C.E.O. of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. "The LAF recognizes efforts of HP and AMD to join the battle against cancer."
To show its full support of the program, AMD has made a two-year commitment to generate a minimum of $4 million for the LAF from this initiative.
$50 from the sale of each laptop will go toward the LAF. At purchase time, buyers will be invited to make a contribution as well.
