Microsoft To Quicken Entry Into Accounting Market
The Redmond-based software company plans to open an accountant's network as it releases a beta version of small business software.
The Microsoft Professional Accountants' Network was announced today as a resource for accounting professionals; it will offer training, technical support, and networking opportunities for accounting professionals.
As part of that announcement, Microsoft disclosed it would make available a pre-release version of the new Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006 package for evaluation by industry professionals.
Users of Office Small Business Accounting can take advantage of collaboration between Microsoft and payroll processor ADP. Two versions of ADP payroll and tax processing tools integrated with the Microsoft product will be available.
"Our goal is to offer an industry-leading accountant network along with easy-to-use products that will help accounting professionals and their customers to be even more successful," said Cindy Bates, general manager of the U.S. Small Business Group at Microsoft.
Initial pricing on the Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006 will be approximately $200, and the product will be available commercially in September of this year. Today, Microsoft will demonstrate the product at the 2005 New Jersey Accounting, Business & Technology Show in Secaucus.
A Management edition of the product will include Accounting and Office, plus Outlook with the Business Contact Manager Update.
