MessageCast Acquired By MSN
A user of the MessageCast alerting technology, MSN liked it so much that they bought the company.
The acquisition builds on MSN's previous work with its Alerts feature. MSN can integrate the MessageCast technology with MSN Alerts, and extend its reach to new content channels.
Said Blake Irving, corporate vp for the MSN Communication Services and Member Platform group at Microsoft Corp: "Integrating MessageCast's innovative technology, great people and products into MSN will improve our ability to help consumers maintain timely, relevant connections to the information and people that matter most to them."
MSN Alerts delivers information from providers like MSNBC, Fox Sports, and other providers as a free service. Mobile devices compatible with the MSN Mobile service can receive MSN Alerts.
MSN has worked with MessageCast since 2003. "This acquisition is the natural progression of our relationship with MessageCast," said Mr. Irving.
