HP Chasing Small Business Market
The company expands its imaging and printing offerings with a new laser printer and a graphics service partnership.
One new printer from HP, the Color LaserJet 2600n, debuts at a starting price of $399 USD. The company notes an increase in demand for color printing by small and home-based businesses.
The new printer will be network-capable, a feature typical of HP printers with the 'n' designation, and boasts faster printing speeds, 8 pages per minute (ppm) in color, than current rivals.
By comparison, Dell's network-capable color laser printers start at $449 and speeds of 5 ppm.
HP also announced a partnership with LogoWorks, which produces customized business logos starting at $265. Another relationship, this time with StockLayouts, adds a custom CD of various Microsoft Word/Publisher templates for business uses, available for purchase from HP.
The continued exodus of well-paying jobs has led hundreds of Americans to launch ventures of their own, or to enter industries as independent contractors. HP likely sees this trend as one that will continue to grow and demand more technology solutions.
