SANS Top 20 Lists Vulnerabilities
Potential issues for Microsoft, Unix, and yes, Mac, platforms listed by the information security firm in its quarterly listing.
As the nefarious and the mischievous plot ways to exploit remote systems, the SANS Institute has released its latest list of significant vulnerabilities.
Though the top 20 list consists of the top ten Windows and top ten Unix vulnerabilities, chiefly involving common operating system services, SANS does mention the Mac specifically when referencing an issue with RealPlayer.
iTunes versions prior to 4.7.1 get a mention in the same category. A previous report on iTunes states the software can be potentially exploited both on Windows and Mac platforms.
Major antivirus manufacturers figure in the list as well. Offerings from Symantec and McAfee among others have buffer overflow issues that need to be addressed if they haven't been already by administrators.
Oracle users of version 8, 9, and 10 should ensure a critical patch has been deployed on their database servers. Other Oracle products may need to be patched as well.
