Sony Robot Making Grade In School
The Qrio robot developed by Sony Intelligence Dynamics Laboratories attends a nursery school in California.
Sony's humanoid robot Qrio goes to a San Diego nursery school each day, spending time with toddlers there.
The robot first began attending the school in March. A Sony researcher accompanies Qrio, recording the robot's interactions.
"The children think of Qrio as a feeble younger brother," researcher Fumihide Tanaka said.
According to Sony, the robot can walk, dance, and distinguish between faces. The Qrio technology includes a vocabulary of tens of thousands of words and can learn new ones.
