AOL Triton Update To AIM Goes Modular
New AIM client will expand beyond supporting video conferencing and Voice over Internet Protocol.
One interface, many options. That's the focus of AOL's development efforts for its new AIM client, dubbed Triton.
"We have re-engineered AIM from the ground up in an effort to meet the demand for a wide array of communications options," AOL spokesperson Krista Thomas said.
One change will be to the familiar IM window. Triton's new interface, called Quicknote, will be a snapshot of information about a highlighted buddy and options on contacting that buddy.
Quicknote's tabbed interface will allow a user to send a buddy a mobile text message, or launch an IM or phone session.
