Microsoft's Robbie Bach spoke to a group of businesspeople in Silicon Valley about the new console.

While Mr. Bach would not discuss specifics of the Xbox 360, he did chat about general gaming trends.

"This is the first time the industry is saying: 'Hey we want consumers to see this first,'" Mr. Bach said. "We think that is an important milestone for Xbox. It is recognition of this as a broad consumer market."

He cited the advancing average age of gamers and called for more casual fare from game developers.

"If you want to be good at some of the games ... you have to practice, you have to work at it. What we need is more experiences that are casual fun," said Mr. Bach.
