Jeansonne Goes To Jail
Louisiana's David Jeansonne recieved a six month sentence for spreading a malicious program that caused WebTV customers to call 911 without their knowledge.
The program changed the subscribers' WebTV numbers so that they dialed 911 instead of WebTV. This caused police to send officers on at least 10 separate occasions in 2002.
Jeansonne pleaded guilty to intentionally damaging computers and causing a public safety threat.
According to a Halifax Live article,
"U.S. District Judge Ronald M. Whyte also sentenced the hacker to serve six months of home detention as part of a two-year period of supervised release.
About 10 users of the MSN TV service reported their local emergency services either called or visited their homes in response to the bogus calls." Receive
