Microsoft's Competition From Mozilla
Microsoft doesn't seem to be too worried about the competition of Mozilla with their release of Firefox 1.0.
Microsoft isn't planning on releasing a new version of IE anytime soon, but Microsoft's director of Windows product management, Gary Schare pointed out that features could be added anytime.
"It is an option for the Internet Explorer team to add functionality in between releases," he stated. "We do not have specific plans at this point to use it, but it is an option."
They've currently got over 90 percent of the market with Internet Explorer and seem pretty comfortable with that.
On the other hand, Blake Ross, Creator of Firefox seems to think otherwise. "I think Microsoft is getting a little nervous," Ross said. "They aren't sleeping anymore. They're talking about us on their Weblog and have started to contact the press about us."
"It's exciting because open-source software hadn't really taken off until Firefox," Ross said. "Other open-source products were more for techie people and weren't really developed for the user."
AOL is also scheduled to preview a Mozilla-based browser on November 30th. Receive
