Microsoft Unveils Windows XP Service Pack 2, Finally
On Friday, Microsoft's second service pack for Windows XP was finally released to manufactures.
Business users are next in line to get the code, before the end of August, while the consumer has to wait for Microsoft's Automatic update system to deliver it to them. Around 80 per cent of the code contained in the XP SP2 is aimed at improving system security, according to vnunet.com.
The English version of SP2 will first be released followed closely by over 20 other language versions over the next few months.
Businesses should be extremely cautious when implementing SP2 since it reconfigures XP and closes ports not commonly used to try and reduce opportunities for hackers.
