Google Hit By MyDoom Variant?
A number of the top US search engines were allegedly affected by a variant of the MyDoom worm, with the most notable being Google. The timing of this fast spreading worm couldn't have come at a worse time for the California based search engine. They had just released the details of their multi-billion dollar IPO.
Users worldwide, including the US, UK and France, have reported getting server error messages when trying to utilize the Google search engine, according to BBCNews.
This latest version of the MyDoom worm is an astute one. It automatically generates a Google search and the other well-known search engines for every domain name it finds on an infected computer, then swipes the email addresses to further spread its virus, according to MSNBC.com.
Bloomberg.com says "Symantec has received 250 samples of e-mails that carry Mydoom.M from customers."
