Subscription news search engine Feedster introduced an improved version of its web presence, complete with enhanced search features, a new, more streamlined look, and sponsored listings. The sponsored listings, which appear on Feedster's SERPs, are being provided by Overture.

The news that Feedster supplies its search engine users is collected from, according to Feedster's about page:

"Mainstream information providers, as well as hundreds of thousands of weblogs are syndicating their information using a newly popular XML syndication standard called RSS… Feedster is the first to utilize RSS and weblog content as a new format to enhance traditional news syndication." Feedster also boasts an index of over 700,000 syndicated sources, with another 5000 being added daily.

Some of the new features of the enhanced Feedster include icons that accompany search results. When this icon is clicked, users are taken to a Feedster page that has a larger portion of the blog that was returned from the search query.

Another feature Feedster offers is the ability to check to see who is linking to your page and/or news story. Feedster describes this as:

"Ever wonder who's linking to you today? Right this very minute? Just enter your blog url, feed url, domain or exact link below and Feedster will report everyone we've found that is linking to you. You can also use this to quickly navigate through different blogs with the Get Links link which tells you who, in turn, is linking to that blog. And, yes, you can even get a feed of who's linking to you. No fuss, no muss, no fees."

The link search, although still in the beta testing stage is an effective tool to see just where your work is appearing. The blog search engine also improved the "myFeedster" feature for users who opt to sign up for the service.

The free accounts give users access to Feedster's RSS aggregator and the access to their feed management and Feedpaper tools. With a myFeedster account, users will be able to search only those feeds to which they have subscriptions to. Members also receive access to many other Feedster tools.
