Ask Jeeves Removes Banner Ads From UK Search
UK's third largest search engine, Ask Jeeves, is discontinuing the use of banner ads on their UK search site. In the United States, the company stopped use of these ads during January of last year.
Speaking to NewMediaZero.com, Chris Babayode, VP of sales and business development for Ask Jeeves UK, said, "banner ads dissuaded people from visiting. More people will come to our site to search and we'll increase the frequency of searches if we take off banner ads, and our other ad products will do better."
The removal includes Branded Response display ads and text-based Answer Links. Ask Jeeves did not comment on how this would affect ad-based revenue that the company receives from these ads.
Babayode did say that Ask Jeeves would continue to accommodate their clients by offering them other styles of ads that the company uses. Receive
