Google’s Quiet Revolution
We are witnesses to the seed planting of revolution. As the masses look for escape clauses in their SUV leases, real life distractions keep their thoughts focused elsewhere-Google's impact upon the world and its tech future is an obscure byline in the Wall Street Journal, or less, an industry news portal. Certainly the Paul Reveres of the tech world are shouting "Revolution!" and few are noticing. Directory:

Google’s New World Order
No doubt about it, Google has Gates-like ambitions. Bill Gates told Fortune magazine in a discussion about Google, …"they are more like us than anyone else we have ever competed with." Clearly, Google is the biggest threat to Microsoft dominance that Microsoft has ever seen. Directory:

Flickr Users Displeased With Yahoo Focus
Some users of the popular photo sharing service aren't big fans of Flickr's new owner, Yahoo, and a forthcoming terms of service change. Wired Magazine notes the emergence of a small group of Flickr users who do not want to become Yahoo users, despite the fact Yahoo purchased Flickr earlier this year. Directory:

Linking Strategies: Do's And Don'ts
In the first part of this article we learned some techniques to build a solid potential link partner list for your website. Those sites aren't any good to you if you don't use a strategy for writing the textual content of those links. Yes. I mean those few little words that are underlined in blue. In the right order they give the key to your website door to the world. In the wrong order, they don't budge the cylinders in the lock. Directory:

Feedster 500 List Is Dead Wrong
Okay so I took some time to review the first 100 blogs on the Feedster 500 [top 500 blogs in popularity as Feedster sees it]. Let me tell you, we've got a long way to go in blog search, ranking and categorization... this list is a great example of just that. Directory:

Expanding on Usability
Two weeks ago, I used this space to write about the importance of usability in website design. The article was supposed to act as a lead-in to a short series of articles on the basics of search engine optimization and as a gentle suggestion for webmasters concerned with converting visitors into buyers. Google Releases Desktop 2
Google has released a new version of its desktop search product, now called Google Desktop 2, and now back in beta. The big difference in this new version is a sidebar which goes on the side of your desktop and gives you access to your Gmail, news, weather, photos (not from Picasa, but folders and RSS feeds), stock quotes, RSS headlines (or Web Clips), a Scratch Pad (for quick note-taking) and a Quick View list for web pages and files you use often. Size Less Important Than User Utility
Last week saw the resumption of the search engine size wars in which one major search engine claims to be larger than its rivals, prompting those rivals to rapidly upsize themselves. Yahoo fired the first round at Google, claiming to have over 20 billion objects accessible in their database. Google, which can only claim about 13 billion objects fired back with questions about measurements, basically stating Yahoo was mistaken or misleading in its claims. Directory:

Quality Matters
Danny's fed up with the search engine index size wars, and proposes that the biggies duke it out on a more important front: relevancy (or relevance as we like to call it over here). He proposes that they all agree on some sort of standard test and to have an independent institute or consortium run the tests. Directory:

Yahoo Open or Yahoo Closed?
Well, it seems that I get to quote Greg Linden a second time today. He points to the Yahoo's Personality Crisis article that's been stirring up a bit of discussion about whether Yahoo! will be opened or closed. Directory:
