System Administrator Appreciation Day Almost Here
It's been said that there's a time for everything, and system administrators should be pleased that tomorrow is officially the time to recognize their work. That's because the last Friday of July is, in case you didn't know, System Administrator Appreciation Day.
If you need to convince anyone of this fact, there's an official System Administrator Appreciation Day site. And on said site, there's even a sentence explaining that tomorrow will be the eleventh, not the first, holiday of this nature, so it's not like this has come out of the blue.
Looking for more ways to spread the word? An array of buttons on the site's homepage will let you alert people to the existence of System Administrator Appreciation Day using anything from Digg to Facebook to Slashdot to Twitter.
Also, as Scott Merrill noted earlier this month, OpenDNS allows system administrators to fill out a form with their boss's name and email address, and then OpenDNS will send everyone's supervisors a friendly reminder.
So whether you take the day off, find your desk piled high with gifts, or just get an emailed "thank you," enjoy System Administrator Appreciation Day. Don't let it get you down if the day passes as usual, either.
At least the day's a Friday, after all, so you can perhaps treat yourself to something special that evening and enjoy the weekend afterward.
