Moving From Back Pats to Business, Social CRM Is For Real
As marketers try to determine appropriate resourcing, one of the big measurement and accountability challenges faced by social media is the anonymity inherent in most social data. Indeed, smart companies track social media's impact on desirable behaviors such as lead generation, repeat website visits, and even corollation-derived ROI. But in almost every case, the evidence that social media "works" is based on aggregate, anonymous data. But by blending together social media listening and engagement software with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, the promise and premise of social CRM is finally becoming a reality, 2-3 years after we started to trumpet it (more optimistically than realistically at first). MD5crypt Password Scrambler Not Safe, Says Creator
One of the more interesting things revealed to the public during the LinkedIn password leak debacle is the fact that entire forums exist where black-hat hackers work together to crack hashes. The speed with which LinkedIn and eHarmony's passwords were obtained from the leaked hash is also disconcerting, considering that these companies are both large and reputable. The fact is, a company can do everything right when it comes to password security and still have something like what happened this week occur. Directory:

When Employees Go Wild On Social Media
A good question from one of my students:
During the lecture you touched on the topic of "control" in social media. But in any company internal as well as external conflicts are usually unavoidable and that can trigger posts and tweets which can affect the reputation of the company. How do companies assure that their employees uphold the reputation of the company and prevent scandals? Directory:

Is there a place for MySQL in the future?
Matt Asay believes so. In his column on The Register, Asay acknowledges the presence and impressive growth of NoSQL. "With the NoSQL market emerging at an 82 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) it's looking like MySQL may get bulldozed by its NoSQL peers." Disheartening though that may be, Asay is quick to point out that research shows that the MySQL market will be at $664m by 2015 "growing at a healthy 40% CAGR". With a claimed 900 paying customers, according to NoSQL vendors and assuming 25% are replacing MySQL that represents only 0.002% of the total estimated MySQL base and 1.5% of MySQL paying customers. C++ IDEs – Too many to choose from
When I started my C++ class in college last year, the first thing we (the students) were required to do, was to find an IDE for the class. After some configuration headaches the professor made it standard for us all to use the same one, but it didn't suit everybody's tastes. With so many out there, it's hard to find one to objectively label as the "best" but with some tips, maybe I can set you on the way to picking one that suits you. Directory:
