As I learned about this company, it was apparent that this beloved man's influence extended far beyond the grave into the daily activities of the company life today! Directory:

Facebook Account Security Flaw
Even after leaving Facebook.com, a serious flaw in Facebook‘s account security allows any website to post and "Like" a page without the user's knowledge or permission. Simple JavaScript code that is freely available, placed on any web page, will automatically "Like" a URL and post about it on Facebook Users' walls without their permission or knowledge. A recent test of this JavaScript code revealed that the code was able to auto "Like" and successfully post on over 30 percent of the users' Facebook walls without their knowledge or permission. This is a serious security flaw in Facebook's account security that must be fixed. Directory:

Customer and Employee Collaboration Solve Different Problems
Recently I had a conversation with the CEO of a company (anonymous since I discuss that I will be blogging this) that provides customer community solutions (so clearly he is already biased). This person is a friend so we usually get in little debates about things pertaining to customer and employee collaboration. For some reason the conversations usually turn to, "why do organizations need employee collaboration platforms?" Why can't they just stick with email, intranets, and phone systems? The conversations sometimes also steers down, "the best way to inspire and engage your employees is to show them how you delight your customers." Basically what this CEO likes to argue (I'm sure he does this just to irk me!) is that customer communities can change companies and provide for far more inspiring and engaging fodder for employees, aka customer engagement and communities are more valuable than employee engagement and communities. New C++ Standard, New Focus
Now that the new version of C++, C++11 is out in the wild as an ISO C++ Standard, there's a renewed focus on getting applications, tools, and books up to date with the new standard. The leaders of the ISO Committee have weighed in on the latest versions of the language. There's Herb Sutter writing about C++11, there's Bjarne Stroustrup's C++11 FAQ, and the upcoming C++Now! conference that's going to be held in Aspen Colorado. Clang is racing to get C++11 support into the stable release of the compiler, and GCC is humming along nicely with it as is Microsoft's Visual C++. Instead of write about any specific things, I would lend my opinion on what needs to be the new focus not for C++11 the language, but the supporting toolchains surrounding this new language - and the version that's coming after this one.
