Minus the Header-Only Dogma
I've been working on the C++ Network Library for a few years already total but have been on-and-off with it until recently. One of the first decisions that I made in implementing the library was to try and do a header-only approach to implementing a network library implementation. At first it made perfect sense - you get the compiler to optimize as much of the code as it can while being able to expose a very friendly and expressive interface. When it was merely a handful of header files and there was just the notion of a message and the HTTP client, all was fine. I was perfectly happy showing off really simple but powerful use-cases where you'd want a C++ application to be able to make HTTP calls and get the contents without having any knowledge of how networks worked or how to program sockets on either Windows or UNIX-like systems. Until I got ambitious and it became a real project that people wanted to use - then reality became real. Directory:

How To Get Links From Authority Sites?
External Links are one of the major contributors towards getting a better placement in the search engine results. Link Building with major industry associations will go a long way to improve search engine rankings. But more often than not, a simple link exchange program with a leading website of your niche will not work. They are already the industry leader, hence, they really don't need a link from you. So what can you do in this case? It is to understand and then implement these steps. Directory:

Is Google Plus Helping You Be Personal?
As most of you folks know already, over the next few days, I will be on holidays visiting my family in mainland Spain and while it's supposed to be a time where I will be doing plenty of disconnecting and unwinding from the Social Web, as I get to do some serious catch up with real life, and with the little things that matter, I just can't help dropping by on this blog every now and then, and over the next few days, and share with folks some further thoughts and insights that have been in my mind for a little while now. And lately, my mind has been buzzing with how my overall experience with the external Social Web has changed rather dramatically thanks to Google Plus. Over two months on it and I am still having a blast. This time around though for business, too! Directory:

Google+ and the Potential Impact on SEO
Although you can only join by invitation at this point, you've no doubt heard of Google+, Google's latest attempt to join (or, in time perhaps, completely overtake?) Facebook and Twitter as a must have social networking tool. In the months before Google+ was launched, Google also began implementing the "+1" button as a usable option for users to signify that they enjoy a particular site or page in an attempt to gather as much raw data as possible about the popularity and social value of sites and content before Google+ was rolled out for the masses. Preceding the Google+ and +1 button was the introduction of real time search, which was able to incorporate search results from Twitter, blogs and Facebook. Google, it would appear, is realizing the immense value of social media and the impact of social media on web search. Directory:

CIOs Are Getting Serious About Business Rules And Decision Management
My friends at Corticon had an interesting press release today about a survey they just conducted - More Than 40 Percent of CIOs and CTOs Surveyed Plan to Automate Decision Management Processes. There were some interesting results in this. First, as their headline notes, we are starting to get some serious consideration of automated decision-making, decision management, among CIOs/CTOs. 40% is a lot higher than you would have got even a few years ago and the 36% that indicated they plan to deploy a business rules management system for decision management was also a strong result. Clearly the message is starting to get through to folks that using a BRMS to automate and manage decisions improves agility and helps you build a new class of systems - decision management systems. The survey also asked what their priorities were and it is interesting to note how decision management systems could really help in these areas: Directory:

Eclim Brings Eclipse Power to Vim
Whether you develop in Ada, C/C++, COBOL, Perl, Python, Ruby, PHP, or write HTML, XML and produce DTDs or XSDs, Eclipse can benefit you. Originally designed as a Java integrated development environment, Eclipse brings code completion and validation to other languages as well. For complex applications, and especially verbose languages, an integrated development environment is a savior. Unfortunately IDEs are naturally mouse-heavy with GUIs. Many developers, myself included, use the Vim editor because of the power of the command mode; however, even using plugins to extend Vim will never bring it up to parity with the features of Eclipse. Enter Eclim, a headless Eclipse instance that acts as a server to process your code in Eclipse and return the data to Vim. You get the best of Eclipse and Vim together. Directory:

Focusing On Both Short & Long Term Content Marketing
The number of inquiries we get at our Online Marketing Agency has stayed pretty steady over the past few years but there's been a notable shift in interest specifically towards social & content marketing. What's interesting is the focus on leveraging social media marketing solely for direct consumer acquisition. What's the problem with that? Nothing. Any systems administrator that has had to configure, manage, and maintain more than a handful of machines has sought out and appreciated software that helps out that endeavor. Even managing multiple scripts that automate the process can become cumbersome when there is not any framework to base the scripts on. In the end, most systems administrators will finding themselves reaching for configuration management software, and typically, more specifically, a highly-involved open source solution. The ROI of Enterprise 2.0 and the Value of Intangible Assets
I want to dispel a myth that I keep hearing and that myth is about the ROI of emergent collaboration technologies. We keep hearing about the challenges with measuring and showing ROI and how that is a sticking point for executives and decision makers at companies. The problem with this is that there will never be an ROI from an emergent collaboration technology precisely because technology is just that…technology. We are talking about tools that enable us to collaborate and do "things." The ROI or the value comes from the activity and from the actual collaboration, not from the technologies themselves. Living "A World Without Email" … in Google Plus
In the last few weeks a lot has been written about whether Google Plus is the ultimate killer social networking site of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or several others, you name it. Perhaps we have seen far too many articles and blog posts on the topic and while I do think it's just a bit too early to make such kind of statements, even if Google Plus has just reached over 25 million users already. I still think it's a bit too early to be announcing the painful death of each of those social networking environments. Let's not forget how long it took both Facebook and Twitter to become mainstream and reach that tipping point of no return, of rampant progress, of gaining enough relevance and importance to stick around for a while, in short, of having enough global impact that almost everyone has heard, or knows about them. G+ still needs to reach that level. I do know though it will reach it eventually, perhaps even sooner than anyone else!, but what I am rather surprised about is the fact that hardly anyone has talked or blogged about the fact that Plus does present a real threat to the king of communications, collaboration and knowledge sharing: email! And here is why. Directory:

British Court Rules for ISP to Block Site
A British court ruled that the biggest British Internet Service Provider, British Telecom, to block access to Usenet binary downloading advocate site, NewzBin2. This ruling should come as no surprise for the NewsBin2 site as the British courts have been considering drastic action against them for over a year. For the courts to rule against a data aggregation service, it is an unprecedented move which puts the onus of responsibility for users' third-party actions on the web site owners. In many earlier copyright situations, for example, The Pirate Bay, have always maintained that because of the nature of Peer-to-Peer technology, the site never hosts the copyrighted files themselves. This ruling puts such sites in jeopardy. Directory:
