Using Off-Site Link Building To Boost Your SEO
In Search Engine Optimization, things that are happening OFF of your site can be just as important (if not more so) than things happening ON your website. As I've said before, there are many things that go into an SEO campaign. However, most campaigns boil down to two areas - "Off-Site SEO" and "On-Site SEO". Directory:

How To create Good Site Content
I suspect that the title of this post creates different reactions amongst different groups. I also suspect that none of the reactions include, "I agree wholeheartedly!" Why does the specter of creating content set off service providers, agency clients, and businesses flying solo, making them more than a little squirrel-y? Directory:

How Are Your Employees Using Content Management Tools?
We need more research like this. I recently read an interesting study by my friend Kate Ehrlich at IBM and her colleague Sadat Shami, It is titled, Microblogging Inside and Outside the Workplace and looks at how corporate employees use microblogging tools. This effort conducted a content analysis comparing over 5,000 posts between March and June 2009 from individuals who were using an internal IBM proprietary tool, Blue Twit, and Twitter simultaneously. Within these 5,000 plus posts, 58% were done with twitter and 42% were done with the internal tool so there is a reasonable balance for the comparison. Directory:

Adding Stronger Business Success With Crowdsourcing
It seems everywhere you go, there will be a person you meet who claims to be the "biggest fan" of a product or brand. You know, the guy that wears a compete 3 piece Nike suit with shoes every day, the office co-worker carrying a Starbucks into the office every day of the week and the family in my neighborhood that have 4 Volkswagen carsin their driveway. Adding Audio Equalizing To Your iPad
I listen to a lot of music and have thousands of CDs on my iPod and now my Apple iPad too. On the iPod - and on my PC - I can get to the "equalizer" and adjust the audio profile for small speakers, jazz, etc. On the IPad it doesn't seem like that's available any more. Did Apple just axe it in the iPad version of iTunes, Dave? Directory:

Giving Your Blog An Extra SEO PuSH
If you have a blog or a website with a RSS (real simple syndication) feed and you haven't heard of the new PuSH protocol then I have a treat for you. A little while back, Google announced a new open source protocol quirkily called PubSubHubbub, or PuSH for short. In Google's own words PuSH is "a simple, open, server-to-server web-hook-based pubsub (publish/subscribe) protocol as an extension to Atom and RSS." Directory:

New Apple Rules Support Objective-C, C, C++
As anyone who's gone near an Apple store on the day a new product's released must know, there's a sizable segment of the population that more or less worships the company's products. It's interesting - and possibly rather important - that Apple has signaled its approval of Objective-C, C, and C++, then. Directory:

GM Is Paying Off Government Loans Ahead Of Schedule
The buzzword in 2009 was 'bailout'. You couldn't turn a TV on without someone uttering the word. One of the controversial bailout topics was for the auto industry. Two of the Big Three American auto companies were in desperate need of funds, General Motors and Chrysler. A Washington Post poll found that only 41% of Americans supported the auto bailout. The final amount of bailout funds afforded to the auto industry sat around $130 billion. Directory:

Fork Bomb Protection
The fork command is a vital part of the Unix shell environment. It works by creating a new thread, called the child, which is identical to the original (parent) thread. From there the new thread will execute the command called by the user, while the shell can either wait for that execution to finish, or can continue on. Directory:

Testing Your SEO With The Google Report Card
How a search engine does self analysis. A while back Google did a self analysis from an SEO perspective and Matt (Cutts) even did a session on it during a recent SMX session, (video at the end). I thought it might be an interesting excercise to actually go through it, point by point, to see what exactly they were considering important elements. It bears noting that they obviously aren't giving away the farm here, nor is this a Google how-to for SEO. Directory:

How To retain Your SEO Equity During A Re-Launch

Addressing The Security Risks Involved With Social Computing
If you have been exposed to Social Computing within the enterprise for a little while now I bet most of you folks out there would probably be able to identify one or two of the main issues that every single corporation has got with regards to the wider adoption of social software tools, both inside and outside of the firewall. Those two issues are actually privacy and security. Oh, and perhaps risk management, too! Directory:

Learning To Speak To Clients On An Emotional Level
Good copywriting does more than just explain the details of a website's products or services. Copywriting that sells has to come off as more than informative. It needs to speak to a person on an emotional level, giving them hope while getting the point across fast. It also needs to compel a person to take action. Directory:
