Apple iSlate, Apple iTablet, Or Maybe Even iTab?
I've been hearing rumors for months about Apple releasing a tablet computer but they give me very odd looks when I ask about it at the Apple Store. Then at Christmas dinner someone told me that it's on the way and it's going to be called the iSlate. What? How could they know, and what's your best information about what an iSlate will be? Is Linux ready for the average user?
Most people ask if Linux is ready to compete with Windows. To me, that is not the correct question to ask. This implies that Linux is trying to go after the average user. The problem with the generic term of "average user" is that it means different things for different people. To a Linux user, an "average user" is probably a hacker, programmer, or system administrator. To a Mac user, the "average user" may be a musician, artist, or web designer. To someone who works or has worked on a help desk, has a very different perspective of what an "average user" is. Directory:

Will Facebook Ad Revenues Surpass MySpace in 2010?
Facebook has drubbed MySpace on almost all fronts-in the media, with users, in growth, in traffic-except ad revenue. But expect that to change next year, according to eMarketer: "It will surpass its former rival, MySpace, in ad revenues in 2010, when marketers worldwide will spend $605 million on Facebook versus $385 million on MySpace." Increasing Your Enterprise Networking Through Twitter
In a recent blog post, if you would remember, I mentioned how, at the moment, I am enjoying a love / hate relationship (More the latter, to be honest…) with what, to date, has been one of my favourite social networking tools available out there, outside of the firewall. Yes, of course, why not? Once again, I am talking about Twitter. Directory:

Using Your SEO Budget To Get Traffic And Conversions
Ever see one of those movies where some secret government agency has a super high-tech office in an old, dilapidated building in some rundown part of town? The camera starts on the outside, looking over a ghetto as it moves down the street. It zeros in on a rundown building that a squatter would be embarrassed to live in. Then, as the camera moves inside we are shown a state-of-the art facility worthy of a Manhattan high-rise office in the 22nd century. Directory:

Creating Google Ready Video Site Maps
So back in December of 2007 Google's Video team announced changes to their sitemap protocol. Specifically changes to the way Google uses sitemaps to index your video content. Now this can be done for a number of different sites that have videos, but would be an absolute killer change for sites that contain mostly video content, and we all know there are a lot out there. Australia To Mandate an ISP Filter in 2011

C++ Creator Speaks At Stevens
Within their fields, at least, the creators of different things often achieve rock-star status. A Ford Mustang with a plaque signed by Carroll Shelby will, for example, sell for thousands of dollars more than an otherwise identical vehicle. So it may interest professional C programmers to know that Bjarne Stroustrup recently gave a little speech. Directory:

Adding Submenus To Your Wordpress Blog
If you're using WordPress as a CMS, you may have set up static pages for both a front page (e.g. "Home") and a page to list your latest blog posts (e.g. "Blog"). I did that today for a client site and immediately realized that in the site's main menu the Blog link would look a lot better if it had a submenu containing all the blog categories. Directory:

Seagate Busts Into the SSD Market
Seagate, one of the older hard drive manufacturers in existence, has been reluctant to create SSD's (solid state drives). They've commented on their reluctance in the past, stating SSD's have a very small market and haven't quite lived up to their potential yet. They've released their first SSD into the market, though you'll only have use for it if you use a server computer. Directory:

Negative Reactions To Oracle's Acquisition of MySQL
It's a given fact of human nature that people despise change. We're creatures of habit, and we like things to remain the way they have been. There's of course some exceptions to the rule, but that isn't the case with Oracle's attempted acquisition of Sun Microsystems. If you haven't been keeping up, Oracle has been attempting to purchase Sun Microsystems since April, but has been stymied by the Europe's antitrust laws. Directory:

Just Following Your Competitors Online Will Not Build Your Success
I know that it's hard to be creative. I know that it's hard to be unique. Get over it. On the Internet, merely copying your competitors works far less well than it does in offline marketing.
