Colin's review of inexpensivescrubs.com

Sometimes I come off as being a little brutal, so don't take too much
offence, and it's in the hope you can improve.
First off, I have to comment on your site, regarding aesthetics and
user-friendliness.
I realize that it's not your primary goal, but could certainly affect the
number of visitors and returns.
Okay so I just arrive at your home page
and I notice:
-A ton of text! and only the top inch of the picture is showing. People
tend to be in a hurry and don't want to read too much. It's fairly easy to
tell who you are and what you have.
-the 7 or 8 lines of text describing your site. Not necessary, wrap
that up and stick into a new page called 'about us'
if a visitor wants to read about you, they can click on a link.
-Your header (logo) is too big, shrink it down a little.
-Same goes for the navigation. Once you've made these changes, your
site will tighten up and less scrolling will be involved
-take out the hit counter. Although you should keep track of your stats
of course, the counter makes your site look amateurish.
-optional
-take out the contact info at the bottom, put it into a
contact page.
As I browse your site...
-I'm finding navigating your site is a bit of a chore.
-big ! again, your pictures and product description is too large, a bit
of an eyesore.
-opening a new window... for instance when clicking on 'check
availability', you have a full window open with a list of
all products. I would have it open to a smaller window with information
for only that particular item.
-shipping charges an size chart, same idea -except take out your contact
info and browser toolbars.
I found myself fumbling between both pages (site page and new window)
You're receiving almost 1300 unique visitors, that's nothing to sneeze at !
You can really pull your hair out trying to figure out search engines.
I think the key for you is customer / visitor retention. By applying some
of the things above will help, because people need to be able
to browse with ease. Most businesses survive because of customer
loyalty. I tried visiting your site as an objective visitor
and came away with no real reason to come back. That's the key
for you.
Some Ideas for customer retention:
How about a newsletter service ?
Maybe a 'tell a friend' form ?
A link to allow book marking ?
I've got other ideas, but I've been up all night and feeling really tired.
I hope this is of some value to you.
Good Luck !!
Viewing your site with IE 5.5 800X600
Best Regards,
Colin
