Have you ever stopped and asked yourself, why is it that we do this thing we call Internet marketing?

We spend hours and hours each and every day pounding on the keyboard keys and we think this latest business is the one. This will put me on easy street. Another dream that never came true.

We work twelve hours a day making over our 150-page site and we sit back when it is all done and admire our work. All the time thinking this is it, I should have done this long ago. Another dream that never came true.

We get to thinking, if I could only find that one program, I know I will be standing in tall cotton. So we start searching, and all of a sudden, there it is. This person says he will make me rich in only three months, so we purchase. Another dream that never came true.

So we get down in the dumps a little, and out of the wild blue yonder comes this email, asking have you seen this yet? People are getting rich overnite. So once again we take the hook. Another dream that never came true.

Now we are really down and out and we vow to never again be so stupid as to fall for some scam. After all we have been doing this for years, been there done that and have the scars to prove it.

I guess the irony of this whole thing is that I have worked all my life so one day I could retire and do anything I wanted in my golden years. Guess what? I retired four years ago, and here I am pecking away ten to twelve hours a day, seven days a week.

My wife thinks I have gone into my second childhood and don't really realize what I am doing. Then there is that dreaded end of the month, when the Visa bill arrives and my wife goes (straight up and turns left????). Another dream that never came true.

And now we will focus on the satisfaction we have when our web site is finally uploaded to the server and it looks great, partly because we worked those long hours each day, and we take a lot of pride in the fact that we built it ourself.

That first sale makes us feel like a child that just got that new toy they have been wishing for.

Also the look on our family of doubters that kept telling us, we were crazy to put all this time in doing something that was never going to work.

We have seven sons and three daughters and when they stop to visit their first words are always "are you still sitting in front of that computer going nowhere?"

After they see a few sales coming in, they start to look at it a little differently. That gives us a lot of satisfaction to show our children even at our age that we are not completely used up.

We also get a lot of satisfaction, by helping someone on the Web who is trying hard to learn the ways of the Internet. The Internet can be very cold and hard for someone just getting started.

We also meet new friends on the Web, that we would otherwise never have known. Some of these friends will be just that for the balance of our lives. Great friends!

We get as much satisfaction from helping someone make that first sale, as if it were our sale. There is nothing that gives someone the feeling they receive when after helping someone, they receive thanks from them in the form of a testimonial. A testimonial for all the world to see. After all, this is the *World Wide* Web!

Those are some of the reasons we sit here in front of our computer all those endless hours. If you do not have feelings like this, you are missing out on a lot of great satisfaction.

And so it goes for the life of a person hooked on this thing we call the World Wide Web.
