The Beatles And Apple Come Together ?

It seems that The Beatles and Apple have finally struck a deal to make the groups songs available on iTunes. The buzz about the deal is being widely reported though no official announcement has been made. A fan site called Abbey Road Best sites a source that says a deal has been reached but as of now it's unofficial.

The music would supposedly be made available on Valentine's Day to further promote the album "Love" a collections of remixes produced by George Martin that tie in to the Cirque du Soleil musical of the same name.

Apple would have a three-month window of exclusive access to all The Beatles catalogue including newly remastered versions of the group's earlier albums according to Abbey Road Best.

Apple plans a "special" announcement that is supposed to air as a commercial for the Super Bowl on February 4. Hopefully that will shed some light on when exactly The Beatles catalogue will be made available on iTunes and where the newly remastered CDs will debut.

A solid reason to believe that these latest rumors are true is Steve Jobs introduction of the iphone last week which featured two songs from the bands "Sergeant Pepper" album as well as the artwork from the album. Also much of the groups catalog could be seen in the iPhone's music library.

The Beatles stand a good chance to have record chart success if their music is released on iTunes. New UK chart rules allow songs to be counted as singles even if they were not released as singles.

"If Beatles songs were available digitally, a top ten made up entirely of their music would be almost guaranteed," said Gennero Castaldo, a spokesman for music retailer HMV.

Hopefully for fans of The Beatles this time the rumors will become a reality. Many are probably keeping their fingers crossed that this latest rumor won't let them down.
