Using Microsoft's 'Click for the Cause' Live Search site will help generate donations to NineMillion.org, the United Nations' child refugee organization.

Microsoft and the United Nations kicked off the Click for the Cause site, which will be in operation through March 2007. Several other corporations are involved in the program to benefit the UN's efforts.

Each search performed through Click for the Cause results in a financial contribution by the site's backers, including Microsoft, Nike, and additional partners.

The UN organization summarized its mission at the NineMillion website:

Ninemillion.org is a UN Refugee Agency led campaign to raise awareness and funds for education and sport programs for refugee youth, many of whom are forced to spend years of their young lives away from home with little hope of returning. What happens to them now, during their years as refugees, is up to all of us.

People can use the Click for the Cause website to perform beneficial searches. Also, a Microsoft Gadget for those searches can be added to Live.com or a person's Windows Live Spaces page.

Microsoft also has a broad awareness campaign planned for Click for the Cause. Expect to see promotional efforts throughout MSN and Live Search in support of child refugee relief.
