Google Tops Tech Top 40
Where's Casey Kasem when you need him? His edge-of-your-seat voice would add a nice touch to "The Wired 40," Wired Magazine's annual list of tech movers and shakers, on which is a long distance dedication to Microsoft, dropping to a disappointing 36.
Microsoft's two biggest nemeses, Google and Apple, had some wind beneath their wings to put them on top a second year in a row. Wait, it wasn't wind. Wired says it was an "X-factor," an intangible but still measurable "hunger for new ideas and impatience to put them into practice."
When it comes to Google, perhaps that should be extended to "and anapathy about whether those new ideas succeed."
