Microsoft Brings Tools To CareerBuilder
Access to Visual Studio Express and SQL Express through the job search site CareerBuilder.com will be provided by Microsoft in a partnership deal.
Microsoft joins forces with CareerBuilder, the joint venture owned by the three major newspaper publishers: Tribune, Gannett, and Knight Ridder. The deal between CareerBuilder and Microsoft will help application developers hone their skills as they seek employment.
On CareerBuilder's site, Microsoft provides a dedicated page with information on downloading the various web, Windows, or database development versions of their Visual Studio Express tools.
There is also a link to positions listed on CareerBuilder related to software development and engineering, particularly those positions involving Microsoft's .NET Framework. The search results at that link can be filtered further by location and posting date.
Steve Guggenheimer, general manager of application platform and development marketing at Microsoft, said Visual Studio Express is "a natural starting point" for those who wish to make a career of .NET development.
CareerBuilder will provide discounts to registered Visual Studio Express users for some of its services. The site offers résumé upgrades and distribution, and background check services with SureCheck, for various fees.
Microsoft noted it would provide resources, including vouchers for discounted exams. Its Career Center page cites the CareerBuilder partnership, and job searches can be started from there by keyword or Microsoft Certification type.
