Google Calendar “Long Way” Off
Screenshots of Google's forthcoming calendar application have been leaked, according to TechCrunch's Michael Arrington. There's still no word on when the application, currently in closed beta, will be released, but Arrington says it's a "long way from launch."
Eventually to be called "CL2," the calendar will interlock with Gmail allowing users to keep track of events, add events from email and public calendars, and helps discover other potentially interesting events.
Ajax-based, CL2 events can also be made public, be searched, and send SMS notifications. It also features a drag-to-create event function. The QuickAdd function (typing the letter "Q") brings up a text box where information can be typed and then transcribed into the CL2 form automatically.
"Overall, CL2 is a very impressive product," writes Arrington. "The tight integration with Gmail will make that an even more compelling product. Other online calendar applications are going to have a very hard time competing."
