WordPerfect Gets Yahoo Search
Corel's newest version of WordPerfect (the other word processor), WordPerfect X3, features a Yahoo! Search functionality that allows web searches from within the program and a way to get rid of metadata.
The search feature is among several other new features including a new email client and the ability to save documents without including metadata. The ability to save without metadata allows users to be sure private or sensitive information isn't hidden within a file and easily extracted later.
"Metadata is becoming an issue of increasing concern for lawyers," said Jim Calloway, Director, Management Assistance Program at the Oklahoma Bar Association.
"Metadata is useful for internal office operations, but to maintain confidentiality it's important to cleanse metadata before you send out a document to another party."
The software is compatible with Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, natively importing and exporting documents. Spreadsheets and presentations are also exportable to PDF format.
