Expedia Expanding On MSN Travel
Microsoft's former online travel service will expand its presence on MSN travel and local sites.
Expedia, recently spun off by IAC/InterActive Corp, announced in a statement that it would renew and expand it presence on Microsoft's MSN service. Microsoft created Expedia several years ago.
MSN Travel, a channel on the MSN site, will incorporate offerings from Hotels.com, Hotwire, and TripAdvisor.com along with Expedia. Details of how those properties will become featured in MSN have not yet been disclosed.
MSN Travel prominently features an Expedia search box on its main page, allowing for quick queries on flights, hotels, car rentals, vacation packages, and cruises. By adding the other Expedia properties, consumers will have more research and purchase options for travel.
Those options will include Hotwire's last minute travel deals and TripAdvisor's review-oriented information. Hotels.com focuses on major metropolitan areas and resort destinations with its booking options.
