When first launched, Podscope was introduced has a spoken word search engine that focused on podcast content. However, Podscope's capabilities have been expanded to include content from audio and video files.
Developed by TVEyes, Podscope works by taking the spoken word content from podcasts including it into their index. Once this is done, users can search the content by performing a standard keyword query. Results are comprised of podcasts that are relevant to the search.
Now TVEyes is eyeing (pun intended) the vast amount of audio and video files that populate the Internet. By using the same method of indexing that's used for podcasts, indexing every spoken word, user queries will now return relevant audio, video and podcast files. The content contained within video and audio files is accessible to the user through the streaming method. Podcasts appearing in search results can still downloaded or played directly from the source.
David Ives, CEO of TVEyes, had these thoughts, "The interest in our Podscope launch has been astounding. TVEyes has been streaming search video results to its professional market for over two years, and we are delighted to put this invaluable experience to such comprehensive use."
