Pay Up, Intel
1965 issue of Electronics magazine containing Dr. Gordon Moore's article where "Moore's Law" is first mentioned is found in the home of a Surrey engineer.
Had engineer David Clark listened to his wife, they would be $10,000 poorer today, according to the BBC. Under the floorboards of Mr. Clark's home was his large collection of Electronics magazines, a collection that she had asked him to discard for many years.
"We're delighted to at last have an original copy of the April 1965 edition of Electronics Magazine," said an Intel spokesperson.
Last Wednesday, news of Intel's bounty offered to anyone who could provide a mint copy of the particular magazine reached Mr. Clark. "I could feel the hairs standing up on my arms. I think I've got that, I thought - although I wasn't sure. I took the rest of morning off, and pulled the furniture back; I hadn't seen them for 15 years. I started sorting through them."
Once he found the magic issue, Mr. Clark contacted Intel. His was the first authentic claim, and Intel paid the reward. The Clarks plan to use the money to help pay for his daughters' weddings.
Mr. Clark describes himself as "a bit of a hoarder." Receive
