Microsoft Releases 12 Security Patches
A group of security patches for Windows has been released from the labs at Redmond, with the majority receiving "critical" status.
Not only are the patches aimed at securing Windows vulnerabilities (ranging from 2000 and up), but one of the more eye-opening details about the group is 6 of the patches are intended for Windows Service Pack 2 code. SP2 was designed with the intent of securing Windows. Now, some of its fixes need repairing.
According to VNUNet.com,
The most serious flaw is in patch MS05-011, which covers server message blocks, found in Windows 2000 and above.
The flaw could allow a worm like Sasser to cripple IT systems as it allows hackers to take full control without the need for a user to take any action.
"An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system," Microsoft confirmed today. Receive
