Apple Introduces Mac Mini, IPod Shuffle
Today at the MacWorld conference in San Francisco, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced new products for the Apple family that has left Mac supporters salivating.
As reported earlier by WebProNews, Jobs has fought extremely hard to keep leaks of Apple's new product line to a minimum, going as far as to sue web sites that mentioned these products. Among Apple's new toys are the Mac Mini, an affordable Mac computer that starts at $499; and the iPod Shuffle; an even smaller version of the ultra-successful iPod.
According to Apple, weighing only 2.9 pounds, the Mac Mini is just 6.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall. This makes Apple's newest computer one of the smallest desktop computers available. The other announcement that drew the crowd's attention was the introduction of the iPod Shuffle. Keeping with Apple's "downsizing" of their current products, iPod Shuffle offers Mac lovers an iPod that's smaller than a pack of gum. The size of the player does not reduce its effectiveness, however. The iPod Shuffle comes with either 512MB or 1Gig of internal storage, giving users up to 12 hours of music storage.

A quote from Steve Jobs that appeared in ZDNet.com sheds some light on the goals of these releases: "This is the most affordable Mac ever. People who are thinking of switching will have no more excuses."
