Google Claims FreeBooble Infringes On Their Trademark Rights
FreeBooble, a search engine devoted to free adult content, received a demand from Google that they cease operations. Google claims FreeBooble infringes on the search engine's trademark rights, something Google is very familiar with.
On the Jun. 15, the Google Trademark Enforcement Team e-mailed the company asking to take down their domain and transfer it to Google.
Google claims that FreeBooble's domain name is similar to Google's and will mislead users into believing that the two sites are associated. Google also believes that the FreeBooble site will tarnish their reputation and damage their trademark.
An Internet executive at FreeBooble.com who goes by "Ben" said, "Get real now, who will confuse google.com and FreeBooble.com." He went on to say that FreeBooble was started to make fun of Booble.com, an adult search engine that parodied Google (a parody of a parody… very interesting), but then got caught up in the operations of the site.
"Ben" wasn't sure whether or not Google's request was real, stating, "when I received the email, I thought it was a spam or a joke, but I quickly realized it was the standard letter they usually send. But if they want court to clarify this, let's do it."
Good luck, "Ben". Receive
