MSN Releases New Toolbar
Adding a number of enhancements, Microsoft is scheduled to release its upgraded MSN Search Toolbar with Windows Desktop search, allowing document previews from users' hard drives.
Requiring nothing earlier than Windows XP or Windows 200 Service Pack 4, the toolbar offers preview panes for document viewing, user-determined file indexing, setup wizards, and faster, better functionality.
The capabilities can be extended by components found on recently created addins.msn.com. The component improvisations are from third party creators.
Eventually the toolbar will include tabbed browsing similar to Mozilla's FireFox and Opera 8.
Microsoft offers the toolbar for Internet Explorer 5.01 or later for free download beginning Monday.
